According to the market research of Ukrainian Association of Direct Marketing, the Ukrainian market of postal logistics increased by more than 39% in 2015. In 2015 the volume of the market grew by UAH 1.48 billion and amounted to UAH 5.3 billion.
A distinct feature of the postal logistics market in 2015 was growth of internal postal dispatches over international. Interestingly, in 2014 international postal dispatches increased by 10%, while internal dispatches decreased by 1.6%. However, in 2015 the volume of internal dispatches more than doubled and reached UAH 3.83 billion, whereas international dispatches amounted to UAH 1.45 billion. The large portion of international dispatches constituted parcels and packages from China.
The other feature is increased tariffs for postal services which is mainly attributed to devaluation of national currency. Prices generally showed growth between 20% and 45%.
Another trend, which is also applicable to the global market of postal logistics, is decrease in volumes of documentation dispatches. Ukrainian citizens also tend to prefer longer delivery schemes over express formats due to the relative cheapness of the former.
The top three players on the postal logistics market of Ukraine are state enterprise “Ukrpost” with 32.4% (decrease of 3.8% in comparison with 2014) and two private providers: “New Post”, which managed to increase its share from 21% to 31.9%, and “Meest Express”, which experienced a slight decrease in 2015 from 14.2% to 12.2%.
We also note that in accordance with the information published by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine the revenue of postal providers in I quarter of 2016 increased by 7.68% and amounted to UAH 875.3 million. At the same time, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine earlier announced that the revenue of postal providers in 2015 increased by 6.54%.
